Introduce guests
Host - today we are joined by Finlay Polley, the independent director behind the amazing movie, ‘Your Money’. Which is an amazing film depicting the harsh realities and struggles of british youth which are driven into a life of crime in order to survive.
How are you today Finlay?
Finlay - Very well, and thank you for inviting me on today.
Host - of course we are always happy to have you on. You are a very talented and young creative and the mastermind behind your new movie ‘Your Money’. For those who may not have heard of you before, give a short introduction of yourself
Finlay - yeah ok, so i grew up in south west london and from a young age i loved holding the camera and film everything, creating short films for my family and friends to enjoy. My passion encouraged me to study film religiously through school and university. After that I started making longer and more moving films with a motive of educating people. That's why many of my films are based on social realism and all attempt to expand people's social conscience to those who struggle and don't have a voice.
Host- wow how amazing
Talk about the concept of the movie and inspirations
Host - What is the concept behind the movie and who is represented?
Finlay - i decided that i should explore a group of people who aren't represented at all in a realistic way in films and the motives and outcomes of there activities. It explores why people decide to sell dugs, commit fraud and hack. Following the story of character Stokeley Abloh who after his parents die finds this lucrative underground world in order to provide for his siblings. It follows his path and eventual demise. The movie doesn't glorify or encourage people to follow his path but shows people's motives and the dangerous outcomes such as prison and death. Also with the aims to teach people to secure there internet privacy in order to prevent being hacked or be victims to fraud
Talk why the film was made
Introduce the recording of film set / location
Host - i believe you have prepared a short recording on one of your sets and answered some questions we asked you.
Recording clip shows - crime scene police investigating including a overdose victim
Finlay - so here we are on the set of Your Money. The reason i included scenes like this is to show that drugs are bad and where taken inapporopriatey do cause death. Aims to enlighten the audience (18-34) who club and party to be responsable. Additionally its a police crime scene which reiterates that consequences could be prison which is detrimental to jobs and career choices people may have in the future.
